MudRugs 50g, our burgundy and silver design is packed full of innovative features, promoting comfort and convenience for you and your horse during milder weather.

Unique to MudRugs, we've engineered a flexible belly cover, fastened inside the rug to prevent water running in, even during the heaviest of rain. With a 50g filling to protect the topline, sides and neck, we then reduce the belly cover to 20g for optimum temperature regulation.
All MudRugs benefit from a durable 1200 denier waterproof and breathable outer throughout. This, combined with our elasticated poll, signature reflective shoulders and extended tail darts ensures maximum protection for your horse.

Below you'll find the full list of extensive rug features:
  • Choice of 20g belly cover or surcingles - BOTH included
  • Choice of leg straps or fillet string - BOTH included
  • 1200 denier microporous PU waterproof and breathable outer
  • 50g insulating polyfill
  • Elasticated, adjustable and removable no fill belly cover
  • Spare surcingles for traditional use

  • Surcingle fastenings with rubber washers for additional security
  • Soft nylon lining throughout to promote shine

Sizing

Horse sizes; If your horse wears 6'0+ and is in between rug sizes, we recommend ordering the larger size of the two.

Cob / Pony sizes; These are a generous deep fit and true to size in terms of length.

With a double row of fastenings on both sides of the rug, the belly cover is adjustable to 3 levels - for optimum fit we recommend the elastic to be in light contact with your horses belly.

Rug Care

During regular use we recommend occasionally cleaning the inside of the rug at the chest, withers and along the mane. This is typically where grease builds up on the soft lining, restricting the hair from moving freely underneath. Wiping only with hot water, just once a month and allowing to dry can maintain comfort for your horse and reduce the chance of rubbing or hair loss.

Jet washing, strong detergent and fabric conditioner can damage the rug's waterproofing and breathability. To prolong durability we recommend only a cool wash once a year, or a professional service. MudRugs should be hung to drip dry only.

Brilliant rug!

I have a fully clipped Icelandic horse that suffers from sweet itch and midges. This rug is perfect for a clipped, hot horse - waterproof, and the belly cover is perfect for when the midges come out all through winter. The regular surcingle is great too - clips really high and under a flap. I love the elasticated neck bit as well - really keeps the wind out. My mare really is a s snug as a bug in a rug - and not too hot and itchy. Great rug!

A rug with loads of features, lovely fit and quality

I really like this rug, i purchased the 50g with a additional 100g belly cover for maximum flexibility with liners.

I have a 20g too. Both have been brilliant in the wet, windy and snowy weather we have already had!!

My boy is a 16.2hh TB and wears a 6'6", , the fit is good and true to size and the rugs offer great coverage.

i love mud rugs 20g and 50g rugs they really keep my pony dry, and she doesn’t get a dirty belly because there is a bit that covers her belly too, i’ve also bought the 50g for when it’s colder. they fit really nicely on my traditional cob who lives out.

See my 20g rug review

My lad is wearing the 20g so other than having a look and feel of the material of this one, which is just as amazing as the lighter rug, I haven't had him wearing it yet. I'm actually excited for the colder weather for a change, as sad as that probably sounds. MudRugs are now the only rugs I will be using. The customer service and MudRug team went out of their way to keep the cost to send to me in Southern Ireland as low as possible too.
